Found throughout the area around the park, esp. in the shaded forest areas, this precursor to the beautiful purple Lupine has a purple top that is attractive in its own right. Mature specimen finally appeared 6/22/08. |

Although I've shown the Lupine above, this is the more mature (not quite, notice it unfolding as it goes from top to bottom). Soon it will form fields of purple flowers.
